Report: Finland's Fennovoima files 2 bln euro suit against Rosatom
HELSINKI, Aug 22 (PRIME) -- Finland's Fennovoima Oy, customer of nuclear power corporation Rosatom in the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant project, has filed a 2 billion euro lawsuit against the Russian company, Managing Director Joachim Specht told newspaper Helsingin Sanomat on Monday.
The amount of the claim comprises 800 million euros of advanced payment and 200 million euros of interest. According to the official, Russia will likely send a counterclaim soon.
The Hanhikivi-1 plant was to operate Russia’s 1,200-megawatt VVER reactor. Fennovoima, 34% of which is owned by Rosatom, terminated the contract for construction in May.
